FLEGG YR 7’S PLAY CLIFF PARK HIGH

On the 8^th October Flegg played Cliff Park High. There were some patches of cloud, a lot of sunshine and wind.

A few minutes into the match, Tyler Bleach scored the first goal for Flegg to make it 1-0 to the home team. A little while later, after Tyler’s goal, Cliff Park equalised to make it 1-1. A couple of minutes later, Josh Maney had a chance to put Flegg in front but headed wide. Just a minute later Louie Stronach had a free-kick and almost scored but the keeper got his hands onto it. Then Adam Jones came on and scored after Sam Cox made a mistake and Cliff Park almost scored again to make it all square again. It was 2-1 to Flegg. Still in the 1^st half, Ben Gibbs made it 3-1 to Flegg with a cheeky little chip which went over the keeper. The Jones got his 2^ndgoal of the match with a great volley in the air just before half time. At half time it was 4-1 to Flegg.

Cliff Park kicked off the 2^nd half and soon scored to make it 4-2. Some time later Cliff Park should’ve been awarded a throwing but the linesman played on. Then Oliver Abrahams scored his first goal of the match after being substituted. Louie Donaldson- Medler was the one who set up the goal with a corner. Then Louie had a chance to score himself but the keeper saved it. Then Tyler had some great chances but every time he had a shot the keeper got them all the time. Flegg had played consistently well all match. In the last 5 minutes Oliver Abrahams had a great chance to make it 6-2 to Flegg but their keeper saved it again. Then Cliff Park scored to make it 5-3 but it was too late. Flegg had dominated the game; final whistle went and Flegg had won 5-3 to go through to the next round of the cup.

The team: Sam Cox, Tom Green, Tom Shepherd, Callum Haddow, Oliver Abrahams, Louie Donaldson-Medler, Louie Stronach, Josh Larner, Anthony Annison, Ollie Millard, Ross Stanton, Josh Maney, Tyler Bleach, Ben Gibbs and Adam Jones.

Flegg V Acle: 19th October

Flegg played away to Acle in a hard fought game between both sides. Both teams were looking for the win but unfortunately for Flegg this was not the result they were looking for. Flegg started the game with all the possession and managed to secure 2 goals within 15 minutes. Acle came back the stronger team and scored a goal to finish off the half 2-1. Second half saw Acle more determined than Flegg and early on in the second half, they got their equaliser. Both teams attled well, and Acle found the new again to give them the win.

Flegg V Caister

Flegg played at home to Caister in wet conditions although this did not affect Flegg’s performance. Flegg took an early lead with a fantastic goal. Although Caister battled well, they were not able to keep out the striking force of Flegg; another goal was added to the tally. Caister did not drop their heads and came back at Flegg with a goal. Half Time 2-1. Second half saw Flegg the stronger defence team as Flegg was giving Caister too much possession. Flegg then came back in to the game, passing and moving well and scoring 3 more goals in the second half to give them a comfortable 5-1 win. A good effort from all the boyrs who played well and well done to the referee for a fair game.

U13 Girls Football Tournament

Recently, the Norfolk champions went on a 10 hour journey to the Norfolk and Norwich city in a regional championship. The Norwich City mini bus transported the girls, wearing the full Norwich City football kit, to West Bromwich Albion. They played in the Indoor academy which was a fantastic facility.

They won 2 games against Walsall Luton and drew 2 games against Colchester.

What is more, is that they became the true champions coming joint first, or point in their league.

Unfortunatly they were placed 2nd on goal difference and therefore didn’t go through to the final.

I spoke to Miss Maize who went along with them and she said: ” The girls played fantastically. They even stopped for Mc Donalds on the way home!!”

Recently, the U14 girls faced a tough challenge against Oriel and fantastically won 2-0. Well done Girls.

Also, while we are on the subject of winning, they also won 6-0 against Gt. Yarmouth. A brilliant achievement.

The U16 girls also went on to play football agianst Cliff Park, and they drew 0-0. Well done to everyone who took part.

U14 Girls 5 Aside Norfolk County Tournament

A big congratulations should go to the following girls who became runners up in the Norfolk County 5 aside tournament, in October at the Powerleague, Norwich. They all recieved a certificate and a medal for their efforts. I talked to Mrs Maize and Mrs Utting who both said: ´ A fantastic afternoon and the girls did themeselves and the school proud.´

So, who are these girls? Gabby King ( Captain ) Jordaine King Maisey Harper Hayley Cummings Georgia Eagle

Well done to these girls who have represented the school. Good luck to them with their future championships.

Cliff Park Vs Flegg High

On Tuesday 18th September, the year 9’s from Flegg High school took on opponents Cliff Park.

It was never going to be easy for Flegg, they had been beaten by Cliff Park in the previous season and lost in the pre-season friendly, 7-0. Flegg rose above this though, and went in with their heads held high.

It wasn’t a particularly good start from either team, with no real chances created in the first few minutes of the game. !0-15 minutes in, the two strong strikers from Cliff Park took control of the Flegg defence. It was a one on one situation when one of the strikers managed to slot the ball past James Ewing, the goalkeeper. That wasn’t it, in less than a minute after the first there was a second. It was more or less exactly the same. For the rest of the half, most of the action was happening the wrong end of the pitch for Flegg. There was only one counter attack for them, when Adam Spellman drove the ball across the goal from the right hand side of the penalty area. It was a near miss.

During the second half, things never really got going for Flegg. Some would say that the majority of the half was defending. The defence managed to hold Cliff Park off well though, thanks to, the two centre backs Liam Currant and Jamie Hetherington. It wasn’t very long into the half when the ball managed to sneak through the defence only to dip it over James Ewing’s head. The fourth goal came from a free kick, late on in the half, when the ball bounced just in front of the striker only to dummy it passed the goal keeper. 4-0 the final score.

The team certainly need to step up their game if they want to even come near to winning the league. M.O.M is Jamie Hetherington.

Flegg High School U15 Football

Flegg High School U15’s were away to a forceful Great Yarmouth side. Flegg sent out a strong team and were hoping to get all three points. The game kicked of and straight away Flegg were on the back foot. But Flegg defended well. Flegg were playing a 4 – 4 – 2 and the strategy seemed to be working until a quick string of passes lead to the first goal of the game. 1-0 to Great Yarmouth. Flegg’s back four were finding it hard to keep up with Great Yarmouth and this was shown as 2 more goals went in. A penalty was conceded by a bad challenge from Flegg’s left back Sam Rhodes, the penalty was scored despite the effort from Flegg’s goal keeper Robert Gymer. 4-0 and to round it of a lucky goal from Yarmouth made it 5. Flegg did try but the commitment just wasn’t there. Let’s hope Flegg can pull something out of the bag against their next hard opponents, Cliff Park. MOTM: James Hunt

Flegg High School U15 Football

Flegg High School U15’s were away to Cliff park and were hoping that an enforceable victory could happen. The game started with a traditional 4 – 4 -2 formation from the away side . The game started well, both teams were evenly matched. But some skill lead into the first goal, a lovely volley from a Cliff Park central midfielder left the Flegg goalkeeper, Fred Playford standing. Flegg never backed down and some strong challenges were made and some nice passes were played. This was until another great strike was hit into the top corner of the Flegg net. Heads dropped as another goal went in for the strong Cliff Park side. But Flegg tried to dig deep and stage a comeback when a good strong header from Simeon Randle left James Hunt to header the ball into the net, 3-1. The boys kept on trying but Cliff Park literally played Flegg off the park. Flegg just weren’t giving up but when two more goals went in for the home side the game was over. 5-1.

Flegg High School U15

Flegg High School U15’s were on home soil against Oriel High School. Flegg were missing two players for this game, Sam R and Jack C. The game kicked of with Flegg hoping to stop this loosing streak. Both teams were evenly matched until a Oriel player who seemed to be in an offside position received the ball and hit it into the net. Flegg didn’t seem as if they wanted to be there as another Oriel goal was scored. But Flegg’s heads did not go down especially with the encouragement from their captain Simeon and the strong Flegg centre back, Jack T. Then a moment of madness as a brawl began between players from each sides. There was a argument which lead to two players one from each side being sent off. The score line at half time was unlucky for Flegg seeing as they had played some nice football with Callum hitting the post from 10 yards out. 2-0 at the break. The second half kicked of and unfortunately tempers were still high from both sides. Oriel came out as the stronger side, this was shown by some neat passes which lead to their third goal. The match went quiet after that and some substitutions were made but nothing could help Flegg get out of this 3-0 defeat. Can Flegg stop this loosing streak. Flegg play Acle High School on home turf on red nose day. LETS GET A WIN!

Flegg High School U15

Flegg High School U15’s were at home to Acle High School on the 16th of March 2007. Flegg were hoping to end their loosing streak by getting a result. Flegg set out their usual 4 – 4 – 2 formation, but without three key players, Callum W, Jack C and Sam R. This allowed Jack T to play in a striker’s position and grab some goals. The game kicked of and straight away Flegg piled on the pressure. 15 minutes into the game and a chance came to Jack T and he struck a 20 yards wonder goal, to give Flegg the well deserved lead. But Flegg sat back and some sloppy defending caused an Acle striker to poach an easy goal. Flegg were making mistakes which helped Acle to get a two goal advantage. The score was 3-1. But some luck came Flegg’s way. A hand ball in the Acle area rewarded Flegg with a penalty. Eddie stepped up and slotted the ball into the left corner of the goal. Flegg were coming back. The end of the half, Flegg 2 Acle 3. Some strong words from Mr Young gave Flegg hope that they could turn this game around. Five minutes into the second half and Simon C played a long searching ball down the right flank, the keeper came to receive the ball but Oli A was there to poke the ball over the keeper’s head, 3-3 and Flegg were looking like they were the better side. For the rest of the game it was end to end stuff and another chance came to Flegg. A nice ball from Sim R gave Ben C the chance to Berry the game, but a good safe from the keeper prevented Flegg from getting all three points. The game ended in a three all draw. Flegg were disappointed with the result, but then again at least the losing streak was over.

Year 8 Boys Flegg Vs Great Yarmouth Boys

On Thursday 15th March the year 8 football team played Gt Yarmouth in the league.

It wasn’t a very strong start for Flegg when they played there last game of the season. They didn’t seem to want to score a goal. One thing Flegg had improved on was playing the offside trap. Yarmouth couldn’t get through. It was only until around the 20th minute when Yarmouth scored there first goal. Even that didn’t wake Flegg up and they finished the half 1-0 down.

The second half was a completely different game. Flegg dominated it for at least the first 15 minutes but then things started to even out. On about the 50th minute Yarmouth got there second. Flegg stayed strong and managed to hold the rest of the game without conceding another.

It’s finally the end of the season for Flegg but can they do better next year.
